    “Time for action”: Volos Academy for Theological Studies e-Lectures series  

     

     

    Τaking into account the special conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Volos Academy for Theological Studies is pleased to announce a series of on-line lectures by well-known theologians and researchers on timely topics. The lectures are addressing the general public and not exclusively specialists, offering sufficient time for questions to the speaker.

    The language of the meetings will be Greek (except for that of Rev. Dr. Brandon Gallaher), while their duration will not exceed 1 hour and 30 minutes. The links for joining each online meeting and asking questions will be announced in time (admittance is free for the public).

    3. March 4, 2021, 7 pm.: Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Clapsis (former Professor of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, Massachusetts), Orthodox Witness in the Twenty-First Century in the Shadow of the Pandemic

    4. March 23, 2021, 7 pm.: Rev. Dr. John Chryssavgis (Ecumenical Patriarchate): Time for action in Christ: The Social Ethos of the Orthodox Church — Respondents: Dr. Vasileios N. Makrides (Professor of Sociology of Orthodox Christianity, University of Erfurt, Germany); Athanassios N. Papathanasiou, (Editor in Chief of the journal Synaxi; Associate Professor, Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens; Tutor at the Hellenic Open University); Theodota Nantsou (Head of Policy, WWF Greece)

    7. May 26, 2021, 8 pm.: Dr. Dimitrios Moschos (Associate Professor, Faculty of Theology, University of Athens): Can the History of the Orthodox Church be Rewritten?

    8. June 14, 2021, 8 pm.: Rev. Dr. Brandon Gallaher (Lecturer, University of Exeter, UK), Sergii Bulgakov and Georges Florovsky: Two Complementary Voices for Contemporary Orthodox Theology
